Biblical Foundation

A very important element of Oakwood University’s culture is its “God First” institutional aim—the very core around which the University’s identity, ethics, values, relationships, and curricula orbit. Whether it's online or in traditional classrooms, residence halls, the dining hall, on the campus green, or anywhere in between, Oakwood strives to put God first in everything. It’s simply a way of life.

Recognized as a completely biblically-based principle, successfully putting God first allows the university’s core values (respect, compassion, integrity, excellence, service, innovation and collaboration) to be evident with every encounter students have with Oakwood faculty or staff and with each other.  As with traditional students, online students are invited to virtually participate in activities that will continually strengthen their relationships with God and others in order to build a strong and sustained Biblical, “God First” foundation.

On this page you will find access to information about Seventh-day Adventists, the weekly E-Chapels, Your Power Moment Devotionals, the Oakwood University Church’s live-streamed services, ways to learn more about the Bible and the Office of Spiritual Life and Mission.
